These are smarlamites and the baby form: minimites!
It's body is made of small and large pieces of diamond connected by a small gravitational pull. They have small, brown flecks in their body to resemble bits of Mercury. Our alien is made out of diamond because it is formed towards the center of Mercury, and it can resist extreme temperatures. Our little smarlamite has two sense organs: it's mouth and it's antennae. Very small pieces of diamond form the antennae. It has a large opening in the front to resemble the mouth.
Very solid diamond forms it's teeth. The reason for this is that it eats into it's home (I'll explain later!).
Smarlamites eat their way down, down, down deep into Mercury. This creates long tunnels with caves off to the side to provide their shelter. Families live together in separate caves. When a smarlamite is digging it's way into Mercury, the dirt becomes it's food. It's body waste is when the dirt comes back out to create a doorway of sorts for it's cave. So, dirt is the food it chews with it's diamond teeth.

A smarlamite is based greatly off of an inch worm. They move just like an inch worm would. They basically squeeze their bodies in and out. Since it takes a long time for a smarlamite to move, they can eat and move at the
